What are recommended basic skincare steps?
A basic skincare routine typically includes the following steps:
- Cleansing: Use a gentle, non-abrasive cleanser to remove dirt, oil, and makeup from your skin. Cleansing should be done twice a day, in the morning and at night.
- Toning: Use a toner to help restore the skin's natural pH balance and prepare it for the next steps in your routine.
- Serum...
- Moisturizing: Use a moisturizer to hydrate and nourish the skin. It is important to use a moisturizer that is appropriate for your skin type.
- Sun protection: Use a sunscreen with at least SPF 30 to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. Sunscreen should be applied every day, even on cloudy days.
- Exfoliating: Depending on your skin type, you may want to exfoliate your skin once or twice a week to remove dead skin cells and promote cell renewal.
It's important to note that individual skin needs and concerns can vary, so you should consult with a dermatologist or skincare professional for personalized advice and recommendations. Additionally, you may want to add other steps to your routine, such as using a serum or an eye cream, if you have specific concerns like wrinkles, fine lines or dark circles.
Are Active Drip vegan & cruelty free?
Yes. All Active Drip products are vegan, cruelty-free.
Are Active Drip products fragrance free?
Yes, all Active Drip products are fragrance free.
Are Active Drip products pregnancy safe?
Not all skincare products are considered safe to use during pregnancy. Some ingredients, such as retinoids, salicylic acid, hydroquinone, and certain chemical sunscreens, may be harmful to the developing fetus and should be avoided. It's important to check the ingredient list of any skincare product you plan to use during pregnancy and consult with a healthcare provider or a dermatologist if you have any concerns.
It's also important to note that even if a product is considered safe to use during pregnancy, individual skin reactions can vary. It is always recommended to patch test products before using them over a larger area of the skin and stop using them if you notice any irritation or allergic reactions.
How do I find out my skin type?
There are a few ways to determine your skin type:
-
The barefaced test: Cleanse your face and go about your day without applying
any products. At the end of the day, observe your skin. If it feels oily and shiny, you have oily skin. If it feels dry and tight, you have dry skin. If it feels both oily and dry, you have combination skin. If you see no distinct oiliness or dryness, you have normal skin. - You can also take our quiz...
- The blotting paper test: Press a blotting paper or tissue to different areas of your face, such as your forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin. If the paper absorbs oil from your T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin) but not from your cheeks, you have combination skin. If the paper absorbs oil from all areas, you have oily skin. If the paper does not absorb any oil, you have dry skin.
- Consult with a dermatologist or skincare professional for a professional assessment. They can also give you more personalized advice and recommend specific products for your skin type.
It's important to note that skin type can change due to factors such as age, hormonal changes, or environmental factors, so you should re-evaluate your skin type periodically.
Is it better to use Vitamin C products in the morning or the Evening?
Vitamin C serums offer a multitude of benefits when incorporated into both your morning and evening skincare routine.
Using a vitamin C serum as part of your morning skincare routine means that your skin is better able to neutralise harmful free radicals. These can build up throughout the day and tear down much-needed skin collagen. On the other hand, when using vitamin C serums as part of your evening routine, you can avoid the risk of dangerous photosensitivity. This is because vitamin C can make skin more sensitive to sunlight. Always follow up with sunscreen if using in your morning routine.
When should I start using Anti-aging skin care products?
It's generally recommended to start incorporating anti-aging skin care products into your routine in your late twenties or early thirties, as this is when signs of aging typically begin to appear. However, it's also important to consider your individual skin type and concerns, and to consult with a dermatologist or skincare professional for personalized advice. Additionally, it's important to protect your skin from sun damage by using sunscreen on a daily basis, regardless of your age.
Which product is most effective for reducing dark spots?
There are several skincare products that can help reduce the appearance of dark spots, also known as hyperpigmentation. Some of the most effective ingredients include:
- Kojic acid: A natural ingredient that can also help lighten dark spots and improve overall skin tone.
- Vitamin C: An antioxidant that can help even out skin tone and reduce the appearance of dark spots.
- Retinoids: Vitamin A derivatives that can stimulate cell turnover and help fade dark spots over time.
- Niacinamide: Also known as vitamin B3, it can help reduce the appearance of dark spots and hyperpigmentation.
- Azelaic Acid: A naturally occurring acid that can help to brighten the skin and reduce hyperpigmentation
It's important to note that some of these ingredients may cause irritation or sensitivity, so it's best to start with small concentrations and build up gradually as your skin adjusts. It's also important to protect your skin from sun damage by using sunscreen daily, as sun exposure can worsen hyperpigmentation.
As with any skincare product, it's important to patch test the product before using it over a larger area of the skin and discontinue use if you notice any irritation or allergic reactions. It is also highly recommended to consult a dermatologist or skincare professional for personalized advice and recommendations.
